My Favorite Movies of 2018

It’s about that time so let’s get to it, shall we? My Favorite Movies of 2018. Many of them will not surprise you. Some may make you think I’ve gone back to snorting powdered rhinoceros horn and chewing white lightning. But for better or for worse these were the movies that put a smile on my face, made me laugh until my sides hurt, made me cheer for the heroes, hiss the villain and simply made me feel good when the end credits rolled.

You’ll notice that this list is considerably longer than My Least Favorite List. Maybe that’s because I’m mellowing in my old age as my wife Patricia says that I was a much crankier old man thirty years ago than I am now. Or maybe I’m just more forgiving. or maybe I don’t look for every single movie I see to be a stunning visual masterpiece of cinema that will change my life forever. I don’t want the same thing all the time. Sometimes I want to eat dinner at Junior’s and sometimes a Quarter Pounder, Large Fries & Coke from McDonald’s will do. Sometimes I want Stanley Kubrick and sometimes Ed Wood will do.

The bottom line is that I cherish movies primarily as entertainment and anything else I get from them is a bonus. Oh, movies CAN be life-changing, spiritually uplifting, informative, educational, technically masterful and intellectually stimulating. What grinds my grits is that nowadays it seems as if every self-proclaimed movie critic/reviewer expects every movie they see to be ALL those things.

But that’s enough of that. Let’s get to what you came for: MY FAVORITE MOVIES OF 2018:
